Example Program 5.
Smallville High School
Year 12
This website contains important information
that will help students to get the most out their Snowy Mountains
Journey. The aim of this journey is to give students an opportunity
to observe in detail and to participate in, some key elements
in the water cycle. Precipitation, catchments, the effects
of landscape on the water cycle, human impacts and El Nino
effects will all be considered. This journey is intended to
supplement the VCE Environmental Science curriculum.
Students will operate in groups of
12, accompanied by two OEG specialist instructors and their
Environmental Science teacher. Rafting on the Murray Gates
and trekking across the main range of the Snowy Mountains,
students will experience first hand, the main source of Australia's
most important river system.
All students should be at school by 7.15am
for a 7.30am departure on Thursday 23rd September.
Please bring your lunch for the first day.
Students will self cater throughout the journey. A range of
meal suggestions and advice on bush cooking can be found in
the Diet/Menu section of this site.
Students are advised to print a copy
of the equipment list. It is intended that students will return
to Smallville around 4pm on Thursday 30th September, however
delays are possible.
