Recruitment and Selection

We scout for talented individuals with diverse experience who thrive on challenge and offer perspectives and approaches that encourage innovation. Our people are a source of competitive differentiation for OEG.

Our recruitment and selection principles are designed to:

  • Ensure that the best people are chosen based on the skills and experience required for each position
  • Ensure that we are resourced with people who are thinkers motivated by action, who have the ability to embrace challenge, develop as leaders and exceed their own expectations
  • Support our values of encouraging respect and taking responsibility for self, others and the natural world
  • Comply with all relevant laws and regulations.

It is our belief in diversity that drives our global recruiting. We work with several visa options, including student and working holiday visas, and for some roles we offer sponsored positions for up to four years.

Remuneration

Our aim is to attract, engage and retain the best people. We offer flexible and industry competitive employment packages to ensure we meet this aim.

We know there is a direct link between supporting and rewarding employees and the creation of value for our organisation and our clients.

We work hard to ensure that we remain the industry leader when it comes to paying our people. To put this into perspective – OEG offers salaries above those offered across North America, UK and Europe.

Professional Development

OEG is recognised nationally as a professional training organisation. This is demonstrated by the partnerships we have with Swinburne University of Technology (SUT) – Victoria, and Western Institute TAFE (WIT) in New South Wales – NSW. OEG is the provider of a Certificate IV and Diploma of Outdoor Recreation for SUT, and a partner with WIT in the delivery of Certificate IV traineeship program.

OEG employees have access to an ongoing professional development program, commencing with a comprehensive induction program. We recognise that learning is one of the best ways to keep your career moving forward.

We also offer employees the opportunity to undertake Skills Extension Programs across a wide range of activities including kayaking, rafting, back-country skiing and bushwalking.

Work and Study Program

OEG offers a Certificate IV Outdoor Recreation Traineeship in Moss Vale, NSW, and Eildon, Victoria, to enable entry level Group Leaders to develop their skills and earn an income at the same time! If you’re looking for an opportunity to pursue your passion but don’t have the skills, this may be suitable for you.

The Traineeships are available to Australian/New Zealand residents only. New Zealand residents are required to live in Australia for 6 months in advance to negate the fee for service payment.

If you are applying for a Traineeship – please clearly mark this on your application form .

Our Community

Our culture has grown from a family environment and has been nurtured into a community of dynamic and engaging professionals. We live and breathe our values of encouraging respect and taking responsibility for self, others and the natural world. OEG management is based upon a philosophy of open accessibility where every voice counts.

OEG is based in Eildon, Victoria and Moss Vale, NSW, 2 - 2 ½ hours from Melbourne and Sydney respectively. Both townships offer fantastic outdoor opportunities and are vibrant, active communities with all services and amenities.
