Recruitment Process

We recognise that the selection process is two-way. Deciding on a new role, a new organisation and a new career is an important choice. With this in mind, we offer several opportunities for you to talk with us so that you can make an informed career decision.

Our recruitment process allows us to determine what it is that you are looking for in an organisation and for you to learn what it is like working with us and what we offer as an employer.  It also allows us to focus on your competencies and suitability for the role.

THERE ARE SIX STAGES OF RECRUITMENT:

Online Application
Your online application offers the opportunity for you to tell us why you have chosen OEG. You can attach your CV, cover letter, along with log books and qualifications for field roles, all together.

First Interview
Depending on your location, you may be asked to attend an interview in person or via phone. The first interview will focus on your interests and experience as well as your motivation for the position you have chosen. It also allows you to ask any questions you may have about working in the Outdoor Education industry, working and living in the areas in which we are based, and in particular, questions about working with us.

RCC Process
Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) is an important stage of selection. For field roles, your records of past experience and your qualifications will help us gain an understanding of your skills and breadth of experience. This will allow us to tailor your induction and Professional Development for when you arrive. Log books, academic transcripts and copies of certifications must be provided before your application can move forward. The RCC process usually occurs in conjunction with the first interview.

Reference Checks
Once you have attended an interview and have submitted your documents for the RCC process, we will ask for your permission to speak with referees from your previous employers. For all roles in contact with clients we will also ask you to obtain a Working with Children Check.

Second Interview
This interview is to further assess your skills, discuss RCC outcomes and reference checks. It offers you the chance to display the qualities that are not always obvious on paper.

Graduate Day – The Second Interview for New Graduates
Applicants newly graduated from tertiary institutions may not necessarily have the employment track record that more experienced applicants can offer. However, we believe that potential is equally important. For graduates, we offer a day allowing you to demonstrate your facilitation, group management, decision making and leadership skills.  Throughout the day you will have access to team leaders, trainers and the selection team in order to ask us questions and gain an understanding of our community’s culture.

Offer of Employment
Once we are both sure that we have a great employee/employer fit, we will extend a verbal offer to you that will be followed by a written employment agreement that formally welcomes you to OEG.

All offers of employment are subject to satisfactory completion of a Work Rights Status check and an OEG Medical Form.  All positions in contact with clients require current Working with Children Checks.

OEG is in equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity.  All selection is merit based with employees receiving equal access to jobs, opportunities and careers based on their knowledge, skills and abilities.
