TAFE NSW

BACKGROUND

In 2007 Lithgow and OEG began exploring a partnership arrangement to offer suitably experienced people the opportunity to undertake a Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation through Lithgow TAFE NSW while working in the industry with The Outdoor Education Group (or any other employer of the student's choice). Lithgow College of TAFE NSW manage, coordinate and run the course. The student is responsible for securing his/her paid work opportunities throughout the study year. The course is designed and structured around the peak outdoor industry periods (February - May & October - December).

The Outdoor Recreation course provides you with the opportunity to challenge yourself physically, emotionally and mentally and gives you the chance to develop outdoor leadership skills, all while working in the industry with an employer of your choice. You will develop judgement, technical skills and safety skills, as well as the interpersonal skills required to teach and lead others in the outdoors.

This is a challenging program providing you with opportunities to learn new skills, meet like-minded, committed people, and obtain invaluable skills and experience in preparation for a career in the outdoor recreation industry while working concurrently in the industry (should you so desire to capitalise on such an opportunity).
