BACKGROUND
Swinburne and OEG have had a partnership arrangement since 1995. The Outdoor Education Group manage, coordinate and run the the Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation and The Diploma of Outdoor Recreation.
Our Outdoor Recreation courses provide you with the opportunity to challenge yourself physically, emotionally and mentally and give you the chance to develop confident leadership skills. You will develop judgement, technical skills and prudent safety practices, as well as the interpersonal skills required to teach and lead others in the outdoors.
It's a year of fun, learning new skills, meeting new people and sharing their love and energy for the natural world.
Outdoor Recreation is a growing sector of the recreation industry. It includes both outdoor education and adventure tourism. Australia is an excellent setting for outdoor recreation. It provides great outdoor opportunities, spectacular landscapes, and has adventurous, friendly people.
Increase your skills and knowledge
Training is provided by leading instructors in each field of expertise, within a class and practical framework. Work placement is also a critical and practical means of developing your skills and this is also a part of both courses.
Technical skills developed throughout the Certificate IV are bushwalking, canoeing, camping, kayaking, nordic skiing, rock climbing and whitewater rafting.
The Cerficate IV also focuses on developing leadership, management and adventure based learning skills. The Diploma provides further opportunity to extend your technical field abilities and develop administrative and leadership management skill.
